Which Dock Door Fits Your Operation?

Most loading docks run one of three door types. We sell, install and service all three, and we will tell you which one actually fits the position before we quote it.

Insulated Sectional Dock Doors

The standard at most dock positions. Steel panels ride high-lift or vertical track above the opening, and insulated panels with perimeter seals keep conditioned air in the building while the dock works.

Rolling Steel & Roll-Up Doors

A steel curtain that coils into a compact hood above the opening. The fit for docks with tight headroom, and a hard-wearing choice where security and daily abuse are the concern.

High-Speed Doors

Doors that open and close in seconds, for high-cycle positions where every open minute costs conditioned air or holds up traffic in and out of the building.

Warehouse Dock Doors

Warehouse dock doors cycle more often and take more hits than any other door in the building. Forklift traffic, trailer strikes and wind pressure at open positions wear out panels, track and springs that were not specified for the duty.

We match the door to the position: panel gauge and cycle-rated springs for the traffic it will actually see, insulation and perimeter seals where the building is conditioned, and track that clears your levelers and ceiling steel.

When a project covers more than one opening, we install across the whole building. See our warehouse door installation and distribution and logistics center pages for that work.

Truck Dock Doors, Sized to the Trailer

Most truck dock doors run 8 to 10 feet wide and 8 to 10 feet tall, matched to the trailers the dock serves and the way drivers approach it. High-lift or vertical track keeps the door clear of the dock position when it is open.

The door is one part of the dock position. We also install and service the dock levelers around it, and we supply dock heaters for positions that work through the winter. If the dock needs a service entrance beside it, we install man doors too.

Dock Door Repair & Replacement

Trailer Strikes & Bent Panels

A trailer clip or a forklift hit usually ruins one or two panels, not the whole door. We replace the damaged sections, re-square the track and get the position loading again. See dock door repair.

Springs, Cables & Track

High-cycle doors wear out springs and cables on a schedule. When a spring lets go and the door will not lift, the position is dead until it is fixed. Our emergency line answers around the clock.

Repair or Replace?

Repeated panel damage, rising energy loss through an uninsulated door, or parts that are no longer made all point toward replacement. We quote it straight: repair when it makes sense, replace when it saves you money.

Dock Door FAQs

What is a dock door?

A dock door is the overhead door at a truck loading dock. The opening sits at trailer bed height so freight can roll straight between the building and the trailer, and the door itself is usually an insulated steel sectional, rolling steel or high-speed door.

What sizes do truck dock doors come in?

Most truck dock doors measure 8 to 10 feet wide and 8 to 10 feet tall, with 8 by 9 and 9 by 10 among the most common openings. We measure your openings and the trailers you serve before we quote a door.

What is the difference between a dock door and a drive-in door?

A dock door serves an opening raised to trailer bed height, usually about 48 to 52 inches above the pavement, with a dock leveler bridging the gap into the trailer. A drive-in door sits at ground level so trucks and equipment can drive straight through it.

Do you repair dock doors as well as install them?

Yes. We repair sectional, rolling steel and high-speed dock doors, replace bent panels and damaged track, and our emergency line answers around the clock for a dock position that will not open or close.
